About Gavel Club Membership

For students of Delhi Public School Nacharam, joining DPS Nacharam Gavel Club is an opportunity to learn public speaking and leadership skills through a designed education program from Toastmasters International.

We offer membership opportunities from Grades 9-12 in
Delhi Public School Nacharam and have a capacity of a total of 100 students. In each grade we have an average of 25 students and take the most new candidates in grades 9 and 11. Most of our gaveliers re-register to participate in grades 10 and 12 after their 9th and 11th grade years.
During the membership selection process, priority is given to members who are
re-registering from the previous year. For new applicants, applications are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

The DPS Nacharam Gavel Club has created a "Membership Selection Committee" which encompasses a panel of 4 separate officers to evaluate each individual application in a thorough and efficient manner. The panel discusses, takes notes, and ultimately makes a decision for membership on the basis of applicant interest, alignment of goals, whether the applicant did their due diligence for the application, and overall understanding of the applicant. The team and the club's founders have worked together to create a selection committee where unconscious bias is severely reduced and the selection process is as fair as possible.

Note:
Due to a limited amount of resources and role availability, we are only able to admit a specific number of students in a given year. We believe everyone has the capacity to become an efficient leader and speaker. Acceptance or denial in membership does not determine the leader a student becomes. It is the student's work-ethic, interest, and mindset that guides their future success!
