My Story

My first interaction with the club was a very quick interview in the corridors. I was asked to give a random 1-minute speech. I remember speaking about the Delhi riots, and I was unsure if I would get selected, but shockingly I did. An orientation followed this, and after understanding the club and its functioning, I felt that this was a life-changing opportunity, and guess what, I was right.

I was a part of the club from the beginning, and seeing the growth that the club has achieved in the past 4 years is just commendable. We went from just a few members to almost 100 now. My journey through this club is a memorable one; from being a member to an OC and finally an officer, I have learned a lot. Obviously, like any other organization, we did have our fair share of ups and downs, we used to run around the school looking for venues and gathering all the members, which we still do, but we always enjoy each other's company in that chaos. I don't mean to make it sound cliche, but we are one BIG FAMILY, and I love them to death.

When I say I have learned a lot from this club, I genuinely mean it. I have learned some very important life skills that will stick with me forever. To name a few, while working in a team environment, the club has taught me how to consider and value other's opinions and also how to respectfully disagree with something, which I feel is very important in life. Gavel Club has taught me how to be comfortable on stage and while expressing my thoughts. The club has taught me discipline and time management and made me realize that I can be creative, SHOCKING.

My last year in Gavel Club was a lot of fun. Still, unfortunately, it was conducted virtually, which was even more painful considering everyone had a new excuse called NETWORK ISSUES. So struggling our way through fixing our mics and internet connection, we have finally graduated from the DPS NACHARAM GAVEL CLUB. Other than my co-officers, the OC, and all the members, I would like to thank two very special people, Tejaswi and Likhith, who have managed to keep this club alive and working and have made all of us better versions of ourselves.

My time in this club may have come to an end, but as John Maxwell said, "The journey will never end; this is just the beginning."
